We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform central Indiana by rebuilding an even better I-65/I-70 Inner Loop.

Help us achieve our vision for a thriving region.

Our Opportunity

Downtown I-65/I-70 is wearing out and must be rebuilt from the ground up. This presents us with an incredible opportunity, but we only have one chance to get it right. The Rethink 65/70 Coalition is working with leaders, stakeholders and residents to drive a design that makes Indianapolis better for everyone.

Our vision is inclusive development that creates a more vibrant, more innovative and healthier region. We want to reconnect our neighborhoods, improve long-term economic viability and position Indianapolis as a world-class city for the next 50 years and beyond.

Achieving this vision requires bold and imaginative leadership. We’re committed to making it happen.

“Our vision is to take Indiana to the next level by improving transportation and quality of life.”

Why

65/70

 Matters

This is about more than transportation. The reconstruction of I-65/I-70 will reshape the core of our state, affecting economic development, public space, housing and public health. Here’s how our Recessed Highway Concept will improve life in central Indiana:

01
BY CREATING HEALTHIER COMMUNITIES AND A HEALTHIER ENVIRONMENT
A better approach to interstate and local street design will promote connectivity, enhance the environment, expand access to greenspace, and reduce barriers that segregate communities.
02
BY MAKING INDIANAPOLIS MORE WALKABLE AND BIKEABLE
Reducing our dependence on cars will create a healthier, more resilient community and environment.
03
BY LETTING EVERYONE HAVE A SAY
By involving the diverse voices of local leaders and residents in decisions that affect all of us, we’ll ensure equity in planning, and we’ll benefit our city, businesses and residents for years to come.
04
BY PLANNING FOR THE LONG-TERM
Systems-based research and solutions will help us take every important factor into account—resulting in a city built for long-term health, livability, sustainability, and economic success.
05
BY CREATING MORE INCLUSIVE, SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
An innovative design will increase opportunities for equitable, inclusive, and sustainable planning, design, and development.
06
BY STRENGTHENING OUR CITY AND OUR REGION
Connecting and collaborating with all stakeholders who want to build a healthier, more inclusive city will strengthen our urban fabric and position our city and region to compete better on a national level.
